Three of our brightest junior prospects travelled to Malaysia to compete in the 2017 CMS Borneo Junior Open and each produced excellent results.
Oscar Curtis finished Runner Up in the Boys Under 13’s after producing some high quality performances before losing in the final (11/13, 1/11, 9/11) to the No. 1 Seed (Muhammad Huzaifa from Pakistan).
Greg Chan bounced back from a Semi Final loss in the Boys Under 15’s to finish in third place after winning a hard fought five game match (13/11, 11/6, 8/11, 8/11, 11/8) against Adam Mohammad Amrie Goh from Malaysia.
Kiara Rogers came away with a fourth placing in a round robin Girls Under 19’s event. Included in her results was a five game (6/11, 12/10, 11/5, 2/11, 3/11) loss to the eventual Runner Up (Brodie Tsen from Malaysia).
All three have been selected in the Western Australian Junior Team to compete at the 2017 Australian Junior Championships to be held in Geelong, Victoria (Individual Event 30th September to 3rd October and Teams Event 5th to 8th October ) and the strong competition encountered in the Borneo Junior Open was an important component of their preparation.
