What a week it was of stellar performances from juniors from across the country! Players of all ages, along with their coaches, parents and more, travelled from far and wide to compete for top spot.
Over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the state teams all battled it out.
- Daniel Marsh (BU17) and Oscar Curtis (BU19) did not drop a match over the entire tournament, the latter not a single game.
- Aiden Finlay-Mulligan took out the BU15 individuals’ winner, NSW’s Kasper Cheung in three.
- Eric Marsh also went on to beat VIC’s Manaia Kara-Brown in three, after being defeated by him in the individuals in five.
- Erin and Dylan Classen will have aged out before the next AJCs meaning this was their last appearance at this pinnacle junior event.
The West Australian side fought hard to secure the runner-up position, a few points behind Queensland.
WA Squash President Glenn Hitch shared, “It’s a great effort from our team and what was also really great was the spirit that the tournament was played in; Queensland are a quality team and congratulations to them. But the spirit and energy this week showed junior squash is alive and well in Australia and it was great to get support from the City of Stirling and Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries to help us stage the event.”
