Monday PENNANTS
Thanks Craig Taggart
Well after 7 rounds of the regular Monday Night Pennants season at Squashworld Mirrabooka, followed up with 2 rounds of finals, it all came down to one night to see who would take out GRAND FINAL GLORY.
The regular season had some fantastic games, some great banter, along with a few (or loads) of laughs depending on who was playing!
The Grand final night and presentations included nibbles provided by Squash WA GM Leigh Kaye, and tasty chicken and salads from Smoky Charcoal Chicken next door, took place on Monday 1st December.
Victory came to the following teams:
- ‘Handlebars N Over’ took out the top prize: Jayden Genders. Cassandra Raath, Braydon King, Lewis Carpenter, Mitchell Wells, and Marjenny Capati.
- Filling in for the night was Craig Taggart (he was hopeless) and Sam Morgan (he was a winner) for ‘Show me the Money’, who were runners up after going into the final in top form and position 1 from the regular Season. Well done team.
- ‘BrayKayetion’ were Plate Winners. I have never seen better plates presented for a pennants season (thanks Richo). Good job Dave Bray, Kieron Finlay-Mulligan, Mark Kaye, Kim Lloyd, Shane Harmer, and Jack ‘Foxy’ Fox.
- ‘Bricks N Mortar’ took out the Wooden Spoon (uncontested on the night). In other words, very much in last spot. Richie Kitch, Linda Towill, Craig Taggart, AJ Bass, Debra Shahar, and Denise Christie took their awards in the spirit they were intended.
If you saw the photos for the final night, Craig had his eyes closed, probably saying a lot about his contribution to the team.
Special shout out to Nikki McCullough for going through the entire season undefeated, without even stepping foot on the court, after taking up diving on the dance floor during the Australian Master Champs’ final night celebration.
Various other prizes were handed out on the night:
- Highest points in a match: 146 points. AJ Bass and Lewis Carpenter both received a bottle of wine.
- Second highest points in a match: 145 points. Andy Jones and Ritchie Kitch both received a sweat band for their valiant effort.
Great season everyone.
Next season starts on 9 February 2026 and registrations are already open: https://www.revolutionise.com.au/squashwa/events/327566.
