Thanks Pascale Louka
Hannah Slyth, Heddwyn Brahma, Tim Cowell and I recently had the honour of representing Western Australia at the senior National championships. ย Hannah and I played in the PSA individual event, and had some good, tough matches.ย Heddwyn also played in the individual men’s open.
In the team event, we faced South Australia first where Hannah secured a win against Kathy, but the rest of the team struggled against a strong side. Our next match was against Victoria, but unfortunately Hannah suffered an injury and was not able to continue. This rattled the team as Heddwyn also got injured in his match.
Next up was my match against Sarah Cardwell, which after a good warm-up to prevent anymore injuries, we went on and I secured the win. Although Tim lost this match, he played with great determination and came out with no injuries which seemed like a bonus at this point.
In our final match we played Tasmania where we unfortunately forfeited Hannah’s match due to her injury, Tim and Heddwyn played hard but had tough opponents, and I managed to get a win.
We are pleased with how the team performed, finishing 5th overall and hopefully next year we can do better. It was great to see the training & preparation paying off as everyone’s game had improved. We learned to work together and support each other, and this team environment made the experience even more rewarding.
