This pinnacle age-based event on the junior calendar took place across four days at the State Squash Centre in early July. The individuals’ event ran over the 5-6 July weekend, with the zone teams’ event wrapping up the competition over the Monday and Tuesday that followed.
Alongside the main teams’ event, an ability-based B-grade event was also ran for those who didn’t quite make it into the team for their zone.
Phenomenal performances from Andreas Christou and Isla Harris landed them with the top two spots. South zone (Belmont/Blue Gum) took out the zone event followed closely by North (Mirrabooka/Marmion), with North also taking out the B-grade event. Marmion’s Jess Jellis and Jonathan Groenewald took out the Joyce Barnett and Chas Renner Best and Fairest awards. Chas joined us for presentations to help hand these two prestigious awards out. Joyce unfortunately, was unable to attend this year.
After all the excitement, Head Coach Tim Cowell then made the highly anticipated announcement, the one all the juniors and parents were waiting for – the members of the 2025 Junior State Team who will travel to Ballarat, VIC in late September to compete in the Australian Junior Championships!
